What it means to you as a candidate -
You may have heard IT recruitment consultants using the phrase “contingency recruitment”. Generally it means “event led” recruitment - ie clients work with us on an as needed basis to source suitable candidates for their permanent and contract IT roles. It also usually means clients rely on our network of candidates and extensive database to source suitable people for their positions rather than us advertising the position in the press on their behalf and managing the responses.
It is from contingency relationships that some of our contract and permanent IT roles come from. The rest usually come from companies that we work with on an exclusive/retained basis or on a managed service basis. Our contingency clients range from start-ups to international blue-chips throughout the UK and Europe and we work on the full range of IT roles for them.
Where we have a contingency role, we do all the initial work – advertising, searching, screening and short-listing – and then the client chooses who they want to interview. Our focus is to make sure our clients spend as little time as possible interviewing unsuitable candidates and that you spend as little time as possible attending unsuitable interviews.
This means that if we contact you we will ask quite a lot of questions to find out as much as we can about you and what you personally want to achieve from your next move. This is the only way of making sure that we do not waste your time with any opportunities that would not suit you.
We manage the whole process from initial contact, through interviews, offers and rate/salary negotiation up until the completion of your contract or until you are settled in your new permanent role.
We are justly proud of our service to our clients but we never forget that without you we do not have a business at all. In an industry where too often candidates and contractors are treated as commodities, we work very hard to remember we are dealing with one of the most important aspects of your life – your career.
